Experience

Having been a writing instructor for over a decade, I have worked in non-profit, in classroom, and in corporate settings. I have served in full-time, freelance, and independent capacities.

For the past seven years I have functioned primarily as an independent college essay coach.

I work with students from extraordinarily diverse backgrounds. In successive years my students have been accepted to top-tier universities, received competitive scholarships, and several have been awarded four-year Posse Scholarships as well as QuestBridge Scholarships.

Process

I begin with an in-depth analysis of the student and the student’s writing goals: the volume of the task, the status of the work, and the calendar deadlines. I organize the data gathered to create a personalized plan.

Writing down one's thoughts, experiences, and emotions is a powerful and poignant process, which is also delicate. To be most efficient in getting to know a student, I ask that they dig deep when answering my initial prompts. I work to build a mutual comfort between us, so that we are able to begin collecting and recording information quickly, since this content will be crucial to our final products.

I assist my students in finding inspiration to capture and nurture. Excellence, however, comes from editing. We will hone and polish each facet of our assignments until they shine.

My students uniformly create excellent projects, completed on time, and I am diligent in my efforts to maintain an enjoyable and fruitful learning experience.
